About Malindo Air
Malindo Air is a low cost airlines, which will be based in Malaysia, with Kuala Lumpur International Airport as its hub. The airlines is a joint venture between Malaysia’s National Aerospace and Defence Industries (NADI) which hold 51% and Lion Air of Indonesia 49%. Looking at the Malindo name, it came from a combination of partners origin country, which is Mal for Malaysia and Indo for Indonesia.
Malindo Air originally will starts its operation on 1st May 2013 from the new KLIA2 terminal, but the launch date has been brought forward to mid-March 2013 with domestic flight, Kuala Lumpur to Kota Kinabalu and Kuching as some of the planned destination. For international flights, of course it will be between Malaysia-Indonesia, with some other planned are the likes of India, Shenzhen, Guang Zhou & Hong Kong.
Fleet wise, the operations will be started with 12 B 737 aircraft, and 100 planes over a ten-year period of operation.
With the tag line Not Just Low Cost, Malindo Air is set to give huge competition to AirAsia.
